Wildthing

The Wildthing is what we consider to be the best trainer model because it's made from EPP foam and is pretty indestructible . It can be bought from the following supplier - Balsa Cabin

****** Our club has a Wildthing which is used to train all new members, but it's also advisable for new fliers to get one of their own.

Alula Trek

This model is also made from EPP foam but is a little easier to break than the Wildthing. It's still pretty forgiving in a heavy landing and the fin section is detachable to make it more difficult to break.

Middle Phase 

The Middle Phase is a well established trainer designed by Chris Foss that can be purchased as a rudder/elevator model with plenty of dihedral that makes for a stable trainer or it can be built with ailerons (as above). Ailerons are more difficult to fly as a total beginner but once mastered it will enable you to move forward quickly with your flying and give you plenty of fun along the way.

With dual servos for the ailerons, you can also program flaps for landings...
